KHOROG, August 11, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Some 800 hectares of pastures and areas under crops have been affected by water shortages in Gorno Badakhshan.    

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the GBAO agriculture directorate head Imomdod Farhodov said that the most hit areas are the Shugnan and Ishkashim districts, were 600 and 190 hectares of pastures and sown areas had been affected by water shortages respectively.  

According to him, shortage of irrigation water has resulted from the dry spring.
