DUSHANBE, August 14, 2008, Asia-Plus  — The parliamentary assembly of the post-Soviet Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has condemned Georgia’s authorities for genocide against the Ossetian people and stated that military actions of Tbilisi in South Ossetia had wrecked the planned political dialogue.

“Under the pretext of restoration of territorial integrity of Georgia, the country’s authorities, as a matter of fact, have committed genocide against the Ossetian people. All this has led to the humanitarian catastrophe.  The military actions of Tbilisi in South Ossetia destroyed prospects of peaceful settlement of the conflict,” a statement released by the CSTO parliamentary assembly yesterday said.

Representatives of parliaments of the CSTO member nations have called on the Georgian leadership abandon any plans of conducting military actions in South Ossetia.

The Russia-led CSTO regional security bloc also comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
