KHUJAND, August 14, 2008, Asia-Plus — In January-July 2008, the Sughd province has produced a total of some 560 million somonis worth of industrial goods, according to the Sughd agency for statistics.
Compared to January-July 2007 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods has amounted to 100.8 percent.
Industrial products worth some 469 million somonis have been delivered over the first seven months of this year, or 95.4 percent of the volume of products produced in the province.
Mastchoh, Ayni, Bobojonghafurov, Zafarobod and Panjakent districts as well as the city of Qairoqqum have failed to provide increase in the volume of production of industrial goods because of irregular electricity supplies, incomplete use of the production capacity, shortage of circulating assets and raw materials as well as lack of outlet for the produced products.
Over the report period, 155 enterprises (65.4 percent) have reached the January-July 2007 production level and there was decrease in industrial production by 67 enterprises (28.3 percent.). In January-July 2008, there were 15 enterprises, or 6.3 percent of the overall number, that were not in operation because of lack of electricity, natural gas and raw materials.
Over the same seven-month period, the Sughd province has produced 343.3 million kWh of electrical power (74.1 percent), 8,700 tons of oil, including gas condensate (96.7 percent), 1.4 million cubic meters of natural gas (45.2 percent), 35,500 tons of coals (122.6 percent), etc.
Over the report period, Sughd has produced more than 285 million somonis worth of consumables, including alcohol drinks, which is 67 million somonis or 30.9 percent more than in the same period of last year.
