DUSHANBE, August 14, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Rahmatillo Zoirov, the leader of the Social-Democratic Party (SDPT) is currently on the visit to Khorog, Gorno Badakhshan. 

He told Asia-Plus by telephone today that he arrived in Khorog yesterday to hold the next regional conference of the party scheduled for August 16.  

“The conference will consider a number of issues, including election of a new leadership of the SDPT organization for Gorno Badakhshan,” said Mr. Zoirov. “We also pan to work out the strategy of participation of the party in the parliamentary elections due in February 2009.” 

 During his stay in Khorog, Rahmatillo Zoirov will also conduct a round table as moderator on August 15.  The meeting, staged by the Swiss Cooperation Office (SDC) and the Center for Education and Socioeconomic Development, is aiming to consider issues related to the strategy of socioeconomic development of the problem region, Mr. Zoirov said.
