State Youth Theatre to represent Tajik in the 2nd Central Asian Theatre Festival

DUSHANBE, August 14, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Performance “Rich Woman” by the State Youth Theatre named after Mahmoudjon Vohidov will represent Tajikistan in the 2nd International Theatre festival of the Central Asian countries that will be held in Almaty, Kazakhstan from September 2-6, according to the Ministry of Culture (MoC).

The source at a MoC said that the performance staged by Sulton Umarov, chief director of the theatre, is based on a play by known Azeri writer and playwright Ali Amirli.  

He added that the dramatic theatres of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will take part in the festival   

The first International Theater Festival of the Central Asian countries took place in Almaty on September 6-13, 2006.  The dramatic theaters of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan participated in it. The event was organized by Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Information with the purpose of expansion and enhancement of interstate cultural and humanitarian cooperation of the Central Asian states.
