KHUJAND, August 19, 2008, Asia-Plus  — More than 4,000 physicians, 11,000 middle level and 6,000 junior level medical workers currently work in the northern Sughd province, which has the population of 2.1 million people, according to the Sughd health directorate.  

108 medical facilities, 29 dispensaries, 432 health centers, 4 dental clinics, 20 state-run sanitary epidemiologic centers, 5 emergency stations and 59 emergency department, 355 health houses, 42 self-financed dental offices, and 5 sanatoria currently function in the province. 

The Sughd province now has 1,366 medical vacancies, including 613 physicians and 753 middle level medical workers, the source at the Sughd health directorate said.
