 DUSHANBE, August 19, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Alleged precursor trafficker has been detained in Dushanbe. 

An operation carried out by officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) on August 16 led to the arrest of T., head of the engineering research department at the Yovon chemical plant, in Dushanbe, the DCA press service said. 

A plastic can with five liters of acetic acid anhydride was confiscated from him.  The acetic acid anhydride is on the list of precursors and delivered to the country only under special license, according the press service. 

During the questioning, the detainee said that he had purchased the acetic acid anhydride for further sale in Dushanbe.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against him under the provisions of Article 202, Part 3 of Tajikistan’s Criminal Code – theft of narcotic drug, psychotropic substances and precursors.
