Draft CIS economic development strategy to be discussed in Bishkek

DUSHANBE, August 27, 2008, Asia-Plus — 18 issues are expected to be discussed at a session of the council of the CIS heads of state due in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on October 10, Ms. Maria Gutsalo, a spokeswoman for the CIS Executive Committee, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to her, a special attention will be paid to a draft CIS economic development strategy for the period till 2020 and determining energy as a key area of cooperation in 2009.   

The CIS heads of state will also consider documents, worked out in accordance with the plan of main actions for implementation of the concept of further development of the CIS, including draft regulations on rotting CIS chairmanship, rules of procedures of the councils of heads of state, heads of governments, and foreign ministers, as well as economic council and regulations on national coordinators, the spokeswoman said.
