KHUJAND, September 2, 2008, Asia-Plus — The Khujand-based limited liability company Textile-City has manufactured the trial consignment of working clothes for Russian company Lukoil, Asia-Plus has learned from the Textile-City deputy director Nasim Karimov.
According to him, the Russian company is currently studying the trial designs and if they are satisfied with quality of the proposed working clothes, Textile-City will start deliveries in the near future. Preliminary negotiations have been conducted in Tashkent, Karimov said.
“We have to seek new markets for our products and extend the range of goods. In late August, we purchased 16 high-productive machines from Russia for manufacturing cotton cloth,” said the Textile-City official. “The enterprise currently produces mainly shirts, children’s clothes, tablecloths, dressing gowns and towels. Earlier, some 90 percent of our products were exported to Europe, while at present we are going by focus on the domestic market’s needs and six outlets — five in Dushanbe and one in Khujand — have been opened for realization of our products.”
Since the beginning of this year, the enterprise has produced more than 4.9 million somonis’ worth of products. “More than 50 percent of them have been realized on the domestic market,” Karimov said.
Karimov added that local joint-stock company (JSC) Abreshim (Silk) now assumes the 100% ownership interest in the enterprise after Italy’s Carera, owner of 57 percent of Textile-City sold out its interest to Abreshim.
