KULOB, September 2, 2008, Asia-Plus  – On Monday September 1, farmers in five cotton-growing districts of Khatlon’s Kulob region yielded more than 1,000 tons of raw cotton, Abdullo Rajabov, a chief specialist with the Kulob agriculture directorate, told Asia-Plus today.  

In all, they have yielded 6,201 tons of raw cotton since the beginning of the cotton-harvesting campaign.  25,000 people worked on cotton plantations of Kulob region on September 1, the chief specialist said.   

We will recall that five cotton-growing districts in Khatlon’s Kulob region have pledged to yield 79,350 tons of raw cotton from an area of 41,350 hectares this year.
