DUSHANBE, September 16, 2008, Asia-Plus  — To organize efficient development of oil and gas fields in Tajikistan it is necessary to invest in geophysical survey, Gennady Malashenkov, a chief geologist with the branch of Russia’s Saratovneftegeofizika in Tajikistan, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

In the Sughd province, oil-and-gas deposits occur at considerable depths, and therefore, production work at oil and gas fields requires considerable funds, the chief geologists said.

According to him, Saratovneftegeofizika’s branch now uses “the latest versions of complexes Geoveteur (France), based on multimedia four-way computer stations San Enterprise 3500.”

“Analysis shows that the more investments in conducting geophysical surveys the more oil and gas are extracted,” said Malashenkov, “The largest funds were invested in 1984-1989, and record amount of equivalent fuel (oil and gas) was extracted in northern Tajikistan over the report period – 500,000 tons.”

We will recall that according to expert estimates, the aggregate raw-materials resources of the oil and gas bearing areas in Tajikistan amount to about 1,000bn tons of reference fuel, according to expert estimates.  However, production work at oil and gas fields requires considerable expenditure, since hydrocarbon deposits occur at depths ranging from 6.5 to 8 kilometers.
