Tajik national air carrier to be divided into six state unitary enterprises

DUSHANBE, October 16, 2008, Asia-Plus — The government signed a resolution on reorganization of Tajik national air carrier, TajikAir on October 1, 2008.

By government’s resolution, TajikAir will be divided into six state unitary enterprises: State Unitary Enterprise Tajik Air Navigation; State Unitary Enterprise International Airport “Dushanbe”; State Unitary Enterprise International Airport “Khujand”; State Unitary Enterprise International Airport “Kulob”; State Unitary Enterprise International Airport “Qurghon Teppa”; and State Unitary Enterprise TajikAir.  

            According to Nazira Davlatova, a spokeswoman for TajikAir, a special commission is being set up by the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosComInvest) for implementation of the government’s resolution. 

Reorganization of Tajik national air carrier should be completed before the end of this year.  The state unitary enterprises will further be reorganized into open joint stock companies (OJSC) with state assuming 100% ownership of them.  The companies will not liable to privatization, the spokeswoman said.

According to her, flying stock will remain in the books of the State Unitary Enterprise TajikAir.           

            She added that Tajik national air carrier currently has four Tupolev-154Ms, seven Yakovelev-40s, three Antonov-28s, three Antonov-24s, two Antonov-26s, four helicopters MTV, one helicopter MI-8T, and one helicopter MI-172.  Besides, TajikAir has leased two Western type aircraft – Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 757-200.  

            On the activity of the national air carrier, Davlatova said that TajikAir had carried more one 1 million passengers over the first nine months of this year, which is 18.7 percent more than in the same period of last year.
