DUSHANBE, October 18, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A general assembly of Tajikistan’s National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME) was held in Dushanbe on October 18.

The NASME members considered achievements reached last year and discussed the development plan for next years.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Mr. Matthias Halder from GTZ Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Development Project said that the GTZ SME Development Project has supported NASME since 2007 through organizing training seminars, renewing equipment, training its personnel in introduction of new services on providing consultations to first-time entrepreneurs, etc.

According to him, the GTZ project also supports many enterprises for processing fruits and vegetables through consulting and modernizing quality-testing labs.

The next phase of the project that will start in January 2008 is supposed to expand its operations in Gorno Badakhshan in order to promote development of small and medium-sized enterprises in remote areas, Mr. Halder said.

German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) has been working in Tajikistan on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) since 1995.
