DUSHANBE, December 2, 2008, Asia-Plus — A young woman in Sughd’s Ghonchi district has died after her father-in-law has severely beaten her, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The 50-year-old resident of Ghonchi Sharofiddin Zarifov was arrested today on suspicion of having killed his daughter-law. “The preliminary investigation has established that Zarifov beat his daughter-in-law, 28-year-old Navrouzoi Zarifova, to death following family quarrel,” the source at a MoI said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Zarifov under the provisions of two articles of Tajik Criminal Penal – Article 104 (murder) and Article 117 (torture).
