KULOB, December 3, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Presidential adviser Gurez Qosimov has handed over humanitarian aid to the republican boarding school for orphaned children in Kulob on behalf of the president.

According to the boarding school’s administration, the assistance included food products, winter clothes and footwear.

The republican boarding school in Kulob is home for 238 orphaned children and the assistance was provided on occasion of Idi Qurbon (Festival of Sacrifice), which is marked this year on December 8.

The Kulob mayor’s office said that the presidential adviser had also handed over humanitarian aid to the boarding school for children with intellectual disabilities in the Kulob district.  This boarding school is home for more than 100 children.

In the meantime, one local entrepreneur, who wanted to remain unnamed, told Asia-Plus today that he will slaughter 17 bulls on the eve of Idi Qurbon and realize some 3 tons of beef on local markets at the rate of 12 somoni per one kilogram, which is 4 somoni cheaper than the present market beef prices in Kulob.
