DUSHANBE, December 30, Asia-Plus  — The government has endorsed the overall volume of state budget for 2009.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the overall volume of Tajikistan’s state budget for 2009 amounts to 6,111,120,000 somoni.

The budget projects expenditure of 1,139,446,000 somoni (equivalent to more than 330 million dollars) in the education sector, which nearly two time more than this year.  In 2008, 692 million somoni were spent on public education.

Expenditures on public management personnel are set at 462.735 million somoni.

The state budget earmarks 300.55 million somoni for defense and 354.765 million somoni for the law enforcement agencies.

In 2009, 728.742 million somoni are expected to be spent on social protection of the population and 395,745 million somoni will be spent on the health sector.

We will recall that the overall volume of the state budget for 2008 amounted to 4.557 billion somoni.
