DUSHANBE, January 4, 2009, Asia-Plus  — A two-year major repairs to the Dushanbe heat station has come to more than 2.8 billion somoni, equivalent to 824,000 US dollars, according to the station administration.

“The Dushanbe heat station that currently generates more than 1.8 million kWh of electricity per day and produces up to 3,000 gigacalories of thermal power per day is now actually the main supplier of electrical power and heat to the city,” the source said.

According to him, in 2003-2004, the Dushanbe heat station produced 106 million kWh of electricity and 260,000 gigacalories of thermal power, while in 2007-2008, it produced 380 million kWh of electrical power and 585,000 gigacalories of thermal power.

“Last year alone, our station generated 292 million kWh of electricity and produced 499,000 gigacalories of thermal power,” the source said, noting that they have spent some 10,000 tons of stored 30,000 tons of fuel oil to this date.
