DUSHANBE, January 14, 2009, Asia-Plus — Kazakhstan will send a consignment of humanitarian aid to Tajikistan.
According to presidential press service, this issue was discussed yesterday during a telephone conversation of President Emomali Rahmon with his Kazakh counterpart, President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The assistance will include 29,000 tons of fuel oil, 9,000 tons of diesel fuel, 12,000 tons of grains and so forth, the presidential press service said.
Rahmon expressed gratitude to Nazarbayev for the humanitarian aid. For his part, Nazarbayev said that the aid would be provided in the light of agreements reached during a meeting of Central Asia’s heads of state in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan last year.
The two also discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
