DUSHANBE, January 16, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The president demanded at a January 15 government sessions that anticorruption agency should not inspect small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), according to presidential press service.

He, in particular, noted that public authorities should refrain from any interference, which would impede development private economic entities.

Rahmon ordered the anticorruption chief Sherkhon Salimzoda to release more actively information about the results of the agency activity.

Sherkhon Salimzoda noted that lack of order in financial documentation of the ministries and organizations as well as economic entities made inspection of their activities difficult.  He also said that in many organizations and enterprises unskilled and irresponsible persons were appointed on the chief accountant position that was one of reasons for embezzlement of state funds and other corruption-related crimes.

We will recall that in July 2008, the president announced a two-year moratorium on inspection of SMEs in the country.  This decision is reportedly aimed at supporting further development of SMEs and creating favorable conditions for attraction of investments.
