Gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to rise 7.1 percent in the year to December 31 2009, reaching 20.665 billion somoni, while inflation for 2009 will stand at 13 percent.

The budget for 2009 stands at more than 6 billion somoni, which is 1.9 billion somoni more than in 2008 and 26 times more than in 1999.
