DUSHANBE, January 20, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The government has worked out and approved the resolution on establishment of a center for international programs, Education Minister Abdujabbor Rahmonov said.

According to him, the center is established to support organized acceptance of Tajik nationals intending to study at foreign universities under president’s international scholarship.

The minister noted that based on this resolution, draft resolutions of the government on regulations for president’s international scholarship, Durakhshandagon, and republican commission for training of personnel abroad had been worked out and submitted for consideration to the government.

“5 million somoni are allocated from presidential fund in 2009 for these goals,” said Rahmonov, “Under the regulations, on graduating from universities, they should work with state institutions during ten years as considerable sums of money were provided for their studying.”

In the meantime, for lack of worthy candidates for 10 student quotas received from India, South Korea, Pakistan, Japan and some other countries, our students have not been sent, the minister said.

We will recall that 842 students were sent to foreign universities in the academic year 2008-2009.
