DUSHANBE, January 28, 2009, Asia-Plus — A broad range of issues related to expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Egypt were a major topic of a meeting of Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi with Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation, Ms. Fayizah Muhammad Abu-al-Naja, here on January 27, according to the MFA information department.

The sides, in particular, discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of hydropower engineering, pharmaceutical industry, mining, agriculture, etc.

A special attention was given to launch of joint ventures for production of medicines and participation of Egypt in the energy projects in Tajikistan.

They also pointed to the necessity of opening of aerial communication between the two countries.

Egyptian minister highly appraised the outcomes of the first session of the intergovernmental commission for trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation between Tajikistan and Egypt that was held in Dushanbe on January 26.

For his part, Tajik minister drew attention of Ms. Fayizah Muhammad Abu-al-Naja to significance of opening of the Egyptian diplomatic mission in Dushanbe and underlined the importance of peacekeeping experience of Egypt for settlement of the Afghan problem.

The sides also discussed issues related to training courses for Tajik specialists organized by the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with CIS countries.
