DUSHANBE February 17, 2009, Asia-Plus — This winter, farming units in the northern Sughd province have lost more than 22,000 head of sheep and goats, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the head of the MoA economic policy and forecasting department Safar Mahmadiyev said that Sughd farmers had stocked only 47,000 tons of fodder for winter, while Sughd’s requirements in winter fodders were 57,000 tons.
We will recall that Mahmadiyev headed the MoA working mission that inspected state of the agrarian sector in northern Tajikistan.
