QURGHON TEPPA, March 2, 2009, Asia-Plus  – Residents of the Qurghon Teppa region of Khatlon still have no electricity, the head of open joint-stock company (OJSC) Southern Electric Systems, Mahmad Samadov, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

We will recall that some regions of the country in February had their energy ration eliminated and now have no electricity at all.

“On March 2, the city of Qurghon Teppa received 454,000 kWh of electricity,” said Samadov, “In all, 941,000 kWh of electrical power were supplied to the Qurghon Teppa region of Khatlon on Monday.  Electricity is supplied to the vital facilities only – hospitals, schools, law enforcement agencies and administrative buildings.”

He further noted that that in February, the region received 10 million kWh of electrical power instead of the originally planned 19 million kWh.  Samadov expressed confidence that the electricity supply situation would change for better in the coming ten days and residential customers would also receive electricity.
