DUSHANBE, March 17, 2009, Asia-Plus  — A two-day meeting of an expert group to review the draft resolution and the draft regulations on the CIS commission for cooperation in countering illicit trafficking in narcotics, psychotropic substances and precursors has opened at the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk, Belarus today morning, according to press release issued by the CIS Executive Committee.

The documents have been worked out by Tajikistan and consideration of the establishment of such a body is provided for by the CIS anti-drug program designed for 2008-2010.

At present, the fight against illicit drug trafficking in the CIS states is conducted by drug control agencies (Tajikistan and Russia) and interior ministry counternarcotics directorates (drug police), press release said.
