KULOB, April 2, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The spring conscription campaign was launched in Tajikistan yesterday and a Conscript Day was held in the city of Kulob on this occasion on Wednesday.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Kulob military registration and enlistment office chief, Colonel Abdurasoul Roziyev, said that 51 residents of the city were sent to serve in the country’s armed forces.  “All of them have volunteered for military service,” Roziyev said, noting that some 30 percent of them have higher education.   

Deputy Prime Minister, Ms. Ruqiya Qurbonov, who attended the event, addressed the recruits with words of encouragement.
