DUSHANBE, April 16, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmoudjon Sobirov is representing Tajikistan at a two-day meeting of the council of foreign ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) that has opened in Yerevan, Armenian today, according to the MFA information department.

The CSTO foreign ministers are discussing a broad range of issues related to cooperation on the most topical issues of regional and international security.  The meeting will also consider state and prospects of expansion of cooperation on Afghanistan, the source said.

The meeting will also discuss priorities of cooperation with international and regional organizations, including the United Nations and the OSCE as well as consider proposals of the CSTO defense ministers and security council secretaries making defense component of the Organization more active and expanding cooperation in addressing challenges and threats to security.

The ministers will also consider the results of interim work on formation of the CSTO collective rapid reaction force, the source said.
