KULOB, April 17, 2009, Asia-Plus — The branch of Tajprombank (Joint-Stock Commercial Industrial Bank of Reconstruction and Development) in Kulob has requested its employees to take unpaid vacation.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Yoqubjon Sobourov, the head of Tajprombank’s branch in Kulob, said that it was forced measure resulting from the global financial crisis. According to him, the branch has decided to ask at least 10 employees to take unpaid vacation leaves for certain period and “in accordance with schedule, they will be replaced by other 10 employees.”
“There is no any other way out of the situation because only 34.66 percent of last year’s loans has been paid to this date,” Sobourov said.
In the meantime, the head of the branch of the Tojik Sodiort Bonk (TSB) in Kulob Umed Rustamov told Asia-Plus today that their bank has not yet come to staff reduction or asking its employees to take unpaid vacation but the situation is becoming worse day from day.
“Our money transfer outlets operating in different areas of the region now have problems,” Rustamov said, noting that remittances to their branch have decreased by nearly 50 percent over the first three months of this year.
