DUSHANBE, April 18, 2009, Asia-Plus — Average buying and selling rates of the US dollar against the somoni have increased by several points in recent days, reaching 1:3.895 and 1:3925 respectively in Dushanbe, the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) reported on April 17.
In the meantime, an opposite situation is to be observed in the interbank market, where the exchange rate of the dollar dropped from 1:3.8858 to 1:38721, press service of the central bank of Tajikistan said.
Central bank also reported on Friday that exchange rates of the Russian ruble (RR) and the euro have slightly increased in recent days — from 1:0.115 and 1:5.09 to 1:0.116 and 1:5.14 respectively.
The situation that emerged in the interbank and intrabank segments shows that a certain increase in demand for RR, the press service said. In these segments, the average exchange rate of RR against the somoni is 1:0.1672 and the average exchange rate of the euro against the somoni has dropped slightly and is now 1:5.155.
In Dushanbe’s currency exchange office, the exchange rate of the dollar currently fluctuates from 1:3.90 to 1:3.92.
