DUSHANBE, April 21, 2009, Asia-Plus  — A jazz festival is expected to be held in the Tajik capital from April 30 to May 3.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Anvar Yusupov, a spokesman for the Ministry of Culture (MoC), said jazz bands from a number of CIS states would participate in the festival.

“Among them are ARTSAKH from Tashkent, Solyoniye Oreshki from Bishkek, Arwana from Ashgabat, and Caspian Jazz Group from Baku,” said the spokesman, “Tajikistan will be represented by Avesta led by Jasour Khalilov and Mizrob led by Ahmad Bakayev.”

Concerts will be held at concert halls of Tajik National Conservatory and at the Russian Drama Theatre named after Vladimir Mayakovsky, the spokesman said.
