DUSHANBE, May 8, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Delegations of Tajik Foreign Ministry and Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria conducted political consultations in Dushanbe on May 7, according to the MFA information department.

State and prospects of expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Austria in political economic and cultural-humanitarian fields as well as development of partnership between Tajikistan and the European Union were a major topic of the consultations that were co-chaired by Mr. Abdullo Yuldoshev, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, and Mr.  F.J. Kuglitch, Director of the Department of South and Southeast Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia within the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs.

The sides also touched upon issues related to exchange of official delegations, regional cooperation, preparations for joint Tajik-Austrian commission for economic cooperation, development of hydropower resources.

Besides, the delegations discussed the present situation in Afghanistan, the MFA information department said.
