KHOROG, May 16, 2009, Asia-Plus — Seven suicide cases have been registered in Gorno Badakhshan since the beginning of this year while during the whole year of 2008 twelve suicide cases were reported in the region, Mizrob Dorobov, a spokesman for the GBAO police directorate, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, the latest two suicide cases occurred in the region this month.
“On May 9, the fifth-year student from the Faculty of Chemistry at Khorog State University, 23-yerar-old Ijozatsho Siyodatshoyev, hang himself in his house in the village of Gozhak in the Shugnan district,” said Dorobov, “The second suicide case occurred in the city of Khorog on May 15. The fifth-year student from the Faculty of Economy and Finances at Khorog State University Muhiddin Aqnazarov also killed himself by self-hanging in his grandfather’s house.”
