DUSHANBE, May 18, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The board (Shuro) of the lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of the parliament considered a bill requiring more amendments to the law on the budget for 2009 at a May 18 meeting, presided over by the Majlisi Namoyandagon speaker, Saydullo Khairulloyev.

Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, said the board also considered amendments to the country’s laws on arms, insurance and state pensions, etc.

Speaking at the meeting, MPs noted that the bills had been worked out in order to bring the country’s laws into compliance with requirements of the present situation following from the ongoing financial crisis and improve the socioeconomic situation in the country, the spokesman said.

We will recall that an April 30 sitting of the fifth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the third convocation approved the government”s revised budget proposal for 2009.  The draft assumes income in 2009 of 2.597 billion somoni and expenditures of 2.697 billion somoni.
