QURGHON TEPPA, May 19, 2009, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon is expected to visit the southern Khatlon province tomorrow.

During his stay in the province, the president will visit the Ayni jamoat in the Khuroson district that was most hit by this year’s torrential rain and mudslides as well as take part at ceremonies of opening of a number of industrial enterprises in the city of Qurghon Teppa and the Rumi district, according to the Khatlon governor’s office.

In Qurghon Teppa, President Rahmon will inaugurate a plant for producing laundry soaps.  The rated capacity of the plant is 4,000 tons of the laundry soaps per year,” said the Khatlon industry department head Abdujabbor Bahodurov, “Next year, we plan to launch a workshop for production of toilet soaps at this plant.  The enterprise will create more than 100 new jobs for local residents”

According to him, 222 industrial enterprises have been registered in the province so far; 24 of them were not in operation over the first four months of this year.  “However, the province has produced a total of 405.5 million somoni worth of industrial goods over the report period, which is 11.3 million somoni more than in the same period of 2008,” Bahodurov said.

President Rahmon will also visit the Bokhtar district to meet with local farmers and then he will address a meeting of regional administrators in Qurghon Teppa.  The meeting will review the results of the past four months’ work.
