DUSHANBE, May 21, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Installation of rehabilitated Unit 3 at the Norak hydroelectric power station (HPS) is expected to be finished in early June, according to Barqi Tojik power holding.

Specialists from Russia’s limited liability company, Bureisk SG, are involved in erecting the equipment and they are supposed to finish the work by June 5.

The source at Barqi Tojik noted that the rotor wheel for Unit 3 had been manufactured at the power generator manufacturer in Sumy, Ukraine and the remaining parts had been repaired at the Dushanbe-based plant, Tekstilmash.  “To ensure proper repairs to the parts we have invited Ukrainian specialists who have controlled the technological process,” the source said.

He added that the power generator manufacturer in Sumy is completing another rotor wheel for one of units at the Norak HPS.  Under contract the rotor wheel should be produced in September this year.

“At first, it was planned that the Sumy plant would manufacture three of nine rotor wheels for the Norak station,” said the source, “However, we are currently considering the possibility of production of the remaining seven rotor wheels at open joint-stock company (OJSC) Turboatom in Kharkov, Ukraine.  Negotiations with Turboatom on production of the necessary equipment for the Norak HPS are nearing completion and we hope that the contract will be signed in the near future.”
