DUSHANBE, May 26, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Another large arms cache has been discovered in Tajikistan in recent days.

According to Ministry of Interior (MoI), officers from the MoI department for combating organized crime discovered a large arms cache near the village of Kholmurod in Vahdat district, some 17 kilometers east of Dushanbe, on May 25.

“20 shells of different caliber, 11 grenade launchers RPG-18 Mukha (Fly), one pistol TT, seven TNT cartridges, three detonators for shells, 39 shells for attached grenade launcher, 9 hand grenades F-1, three hand grenades RGD-5, 9 electric detonators, four other detonators, 65 magazines for sub-machine-gun Kalashnikov, 15 detonating fuses, 3,802 bullets of different caliber, as well as two camouflage uniforms and one bullet-proof vest were extracted from the hide,” the source at a MoI said.

We will recall that another large arms cache, containing 5 sub-machine-guns Kalashnikov and 12 magazines for them, one grenade launcher and 27 shells for it, two hand grenades and 734 bullets of different caliber, was discovered by police in one of private houses in Dushanbe on May 22. 

Since the beginning of this year, police officers have seized 501 firearms, including 124 submachine-guns Kalashnikov, 56 pistol, 93 rifles, 56 grenade launchers and many other weapons.
