KHUJAND, June 8, Asia-Plus  – The Association of Professional Consultants, Zarzamin, will distribute humidity meters to farming units in the northern Sughd province and instruct them in rationally using water, the Zarzamin director Anvar Hoshimov said.

According to him, they are launching a new irrigation project in Asht, Isfara and Konibodom districts under support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).  Designed for three years, the project is targeting 120 farming units, totaling 8,000 farmers, in the province, the director said.

“The project provides for construction of hydroposts for conducting daily monitoring and holding seminars and training for farmers,” said Hoshimov, “Farmers will be provided with humidity meters free of charge and will be trained in rational usage of water.”  A total cost of the project is 60,000 euros.
