DUSHANBE, June 12, 2009, Asia-Plus  — On Friday June 12, Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi received visiting OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) President Joao Sores.

According to the MFA information department, Mr. Soares noted that the purpose of the visit was for him to promote further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the OSCE and Tajikistan.

Zarifi expressed satisfaction with the present level of cooperation between the sides, noting that the 15th anniversary of the OSCE presence in Tajikistan was marked in February this year and the OSCE Border Management Staff College, which will help train border security managers and promote cooperation between OSCE States and Partner countries, was launched in Dushanbe last month.

Mr. Soares expressed hope that the OSCE PA representatives would participate in observing Tajikistan’s parliamentary elections that would be held in February 2010, the MFA information department said.
