DUSHANBE, June 13, 2009, Asia-Plus  — After being closed for seventeen years, an air route from Dushanbe to Sochi, Russia has been relaunched.

Tajik national air carrier, Tajik Air, operated the first flight to Sochi on June 11.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Valery Sharipov, the deputy director of Tajik Air, said: “Tajik Air’s Boeing 7373-200 with 37 passengers on board flew to Sochi on Thursday and returned back with same number of passenger on board.”  According to him, it is good result for the first flight.

Sharipov noted that there were several reasons for relaunching the air route to Sochi; the main of them are labor migration and recreation.

The flight will be operated once a week – on Thursdays.  The price of ticket on the flight from Dushanbe to Sochi is 270 euros and the price on the flight from Sochi to Dushanbe is 250 euros, the air company official said.
