Vose cotton farmers pay off loans taken from Tajprombank’s branch last year

KULOB, June 15, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Twelve cotton-growing farms from Khatlon’s Vose district have paid off loans taken from local branch of Tajprombank “JS Commercial Industrial Bank of Reconstruction and Development) in 2008.

The head of Tajikprombank’s branch in Kulob Yoqubjon Sabourov said that they gave a 716,372 somoni government credit to cotton farmers in the Kulob district last year and they had to repay the remaining 296,650 somoni.

In the Farkhor district, cotton farmers have still repaid 202,960 somoni of 538,358 somoni government credit taken from the bank last year, according to him.

Serious situation is in the Hamadoni district.  The bank gave a 2,067,909 somoni government credit to 18 farming units in Hamadoni last year and only little more than 34 percent of that has been repaid so far.  They now owe 1.56 million somoni to Tajprombank, Sabourov said.

In all, the government last year gave 3,505,700 somoni to cotton farmers in Khatlon’s Kulob through Tajprombank.

This year so far, Tajprombank has provided 310,746 somoni to farming units in Vose and Farkhor districts that paid off their last year’s loans, Sabourov added.
