DUSHANBE, June 16, 2009, Asia-Plus  — A meeting of President Emomali Rahmon with representatives of Tajik diasporas living in Russia was held at Urals State University of mines in Yekaterinburg on June 15.

The head of the Moscow-based media holding Tajinfo, Muhammad Egamzod, told Asia-Plus by phone from Yekaterinburg that some 200 activists of Tajik diasporas living in the Russian Federation had attended the meeting.  According to him, issues related to the labor migration problems and activities of Tajiks living in Russia were among major topics of the meeting.

The meeting participants in particular, noted that many Tajik labor migrants seeking better employment opportunities in Russia did not have any proper specialty and suggested that special vocational-technical schools should be established for potential labor migrants in Tajikistan.

The next meeting of President Rahmon with fellow-countrymen living in Russia is expected to be held this autumn during his visit to Moscow, Egamzod said.
