DUSHANBE, June 17, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Caritas Switzerland announces the First Night of Art Charity Event in Tajikistan “Doing IT for Good”, dedicated to celebration of its 15th anniversary in Tajikistan. The event will take place in Vefa Center in Dushanbe on June 19.

Caritas Switzerland is a non for profit organization with the mission in Tajikistan to support rural livelihoods, increase access to social justice and support people after disasters. Caritas Switzerland cares “to do good” and invites national and international organizations to join in celebrating by participating in the Event.

According to the Swiss Cooperation Office in Tajikistan, Caritas Switzerland anticipates raising funds, which will be donated to the National Museum of Tajikistan for purchasing from private owners hand written scripts dated to 12th-18th centuries.

These scripts and books are not only fundamental to the functioning of Tajik society and to Tajik identity but much of its documentary heritage is of inestimable value to the region as a whole and to humankind.

On the initiative of the director of the National Museum Tajikistan has started to collect and buy precious scripts for the own collection before these historical treasures might leave Tajikistan.  Donations are encouraged to help secure this cultural heritage by preserving it professionally and opening access for broad public.

The program of the event includes an art sale-exhibition of 23 local artists, a silent auction, a lottery drawing, a concert of classical music with quartet “Dolce” and buffet.

A number of international organizations, embassies, local NGOs and businesses have already supported the idea for the charity event and made contributions for this event.
