DUSHANBE, July 1, 2009, Asia-Plus  — A June 30 government session, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, considered more than 50 issues and endorsed the plan of government’s work for the second half-year of 2009, according to presidential press service.

The session, in particular, considered the pace of implementation of the population water supply improvement program designed for 2007-2020.  During the meeting, it was noted that 3,324,844,000 somoni (TJS), including state funds and investment resources, were earmarked for implementation of this program.

The government also endorsed bills requiring amendments to the country’s laws on copyright and energy and sent them for consideration to the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament).

The session also approved a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Latvia on aerial communication and endorsed the program, Improvement of Entrepreneurial Environment – 200 Days of Reforms.  The program is aimed at promoting protection of rights of entrepreneurs and attraction of investments.

The session also considered and endorsed the procedure of repayment by federally-funded graduate students of state funds, spent on their studies, if they refuse to work in accordance with placement.

The government also decided to establish a scientific-research institute Diapozon (Diapason) and provide additional four positions to the ministry of foreign affairs for improvement of work with labor migrants.
