DUSHANBE, August 10, 2009, Asia-Plus  — A regional conference of organizations of the People’s Democratic Party (PDPT) in the Rasht Valley was held in the administrative center of the Tavildara district today.

According to PDPT’s head office in Dushanbe, representatives of the party’s organizations from Dushanbe, Sughd and Khatlon provinces as well as districts subordinate to the center (RRPs) have come together in Tavildara to get acquainted with the current situation in the district, hold meetings with local population and familiarize themselves with state of affairs in local party organizations with regard to preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections due in February 2010.

The conference participants strongly condemned those who had tried to destabilize the situation in eastern Tajikistan and expressed full support for government’s efforts to reintroduce an order and legality in the area, the source said.

Besides, female members of the PDPT held meetings with local women to discuss problems facing them.

Tomorrow, the PDPT representatives will leave Tavildara for Khorog, the capital of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region to familiarize themselves with preparation of local party organizations for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
