KULOB, August 22, 2009, Asia-Plus  — A two-day seminar on detecting and treating viral hemorrhagic fever (VHF), conducted by specialists from the Ministry of Health (MoH) for local medical workers with support from the World Health Organization (WHO) CO Tajikistan, concluded in Kulob on August 21.

The seminar participants included medical workers from Kulob, Vose, Shuroobod, Danghara, Temourmalik and Baljuvon districts.

The Kulob Head Sanitary Physician Said Davlatov told Asia-Plus that the mentioned districts were selected because cases of hemorrhagic fever have been recorded mainly in those districts.

According to him, some 4 cases of hemorrhagic fever are reported in the Kulob zone every year.

“This year, six cases of hemorrhagic fever have been registered in the area and three of them have been recorded in the Temourmalik district,” said Davlatov, “Kulob and Baljuvon districts have reported one case of hemorrhagic fever each this year and one serviceman of military unit 2144 of the Main Border Troops Directorate within the State Committee for National Security has contracted the disease this year.”  He added that treatment of the VHF patients had been carried out without any complications and all them are no in good health condition.
