People with physical disabilities in Sughd increase production volumes by 20%

KHUJAND, August 31, 2009, Asia-Plus  – Despite the ongoing economic crisis, people with physical disabilities working with special workshops, outlets and farming units in the Sughd province have reportedly increased production volumes by 20 percent.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the chairperson of the Sughd Society of Disabled People, Ms. Lola Ashourova, said 1,500 local disabled people currently work with the various production workshops, outlets, sewing, watchmaker’s and shops.  “Money they earn goes to funding extension of the operating and construction of new workshops,” she said.

The Sughd Society of Disabled People now has 15,000 members.
