KHUJAND, September 12, 2009, Asia-Plus  — 186 illegally possessed firearms have been confiscated from residents of the northern Sughd province since the beginning of this year, which is six unit more than in the same period of last year, according to the Sughd police directorate.

A totaled included two assault rifles Kalashnikov, one rifle and 183 hunting guns, the source said.

Five criminal proceedings have been instituted over the report period on the charge of illegal storage and possession of weapons.
