DUSHANBE, September 30, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon today received visiting Chairman of Russia’s Chamber of Accounts Sergey Stepashin, according to presidential press service.

The two discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation as well as preparation of the upcoming visit of President Rahmon to Russia due in October this year.

Tajik-Russian bilateral cooperation in energy, military-technical and cultural spheres was a major topic of the meeting.  Rahmon and Stepashin, in particular, discussed issues related to a Russian military base in Tajikistan, the press service said.

We will recall that Sergey Stepashin arrived in Dushanbe to attend the 9th session of the CIS council of supreme financial control body heads that was held here today.
