DUSHANBE, October 5, 2009, Asia-Plus  — A session of the CIS council of heads of state that will take place in Chisinau, Moldova on October 9 is scheduled to consider some 20 draft documents related to expansion of cooperation between the CIS states in mitigating effects of the global financial crisis, extending integration process in the humanitarian sphere, providing as well as optimizing the procedure of activities of the CIS institutions, according to press release issued by the CIS Executive Committee.

Joint measures to mitigate effects of the global financial crisis as well as a draft resolution of Georgia’s participation in international treaties and decisions of the CIS bodies are among the major topics of the session.

Draft documents on cooperation in maintaining international security and stability as well as addressing new threats and challenges and preventing organized crime will also be in the focus of the meeting, which will also consider draft resolutions on appointment of head of the CIS antiterrorist center and the CIS rotating presidency.
