DUSHANBE, October 27, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Committees of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) are currently discussing the draft law “On the National Budget of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2010.”

Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon (MN), said that the MN committee on energy, industry and construction, state construction and local government, agriculture and employment, as well as social matters, family and health care held meetings to discuss the bill yesterday.

During the meetings, MPs noted that that the national budget for 2010 was the anti-crisis one.  However, the budget social spending, including public education and health care, for the next year has been increased compared to this year.

In the meantime, parliamentarians noted that increase in expenses on educational and health sectors had not had positive impact on wages of teachers and medical workers.  Therefore, MPs proposed to take this issue into consideration in the draft law, Sultonov said.
